Who We Are

We have a family history. And our family is growing.

Harvest Fellowship started as a vision. Nansemond River Baptist Church in Suffolk wanted the families around Smithfield and Carrollton to know how much God loves them. Calling Pastor Randy Green and his family from North Carolina, they partnered with the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia to plant a church in Smithfield. In 2001, several families from Nansemond River joined them, including Ronnie Bunch and his family. Ronnie would lead in worship and support Pastor Randy in this new endeavor. They began meeting at Carrollton Elementary School, where they would meet each Sunday morning for 14 years.

In 2005 Pastor Ronnie joined the staff as the Worship Pastor. In 2006, Harvest Fellowship purchased 23 acres of land on Battery Park Rd in a miraculous deal with a private Christian owner. They converted the livestock auction barn into the church office and meeting space and began developing the property. That fall they called Pastor Art Stafford and his family and he joined the staff as Student Pastor.

Harvest Fellowship was introduced to Lawrence Corley and Builders For Christ as they planned to build a worship center and education space on the Battery Park property. Through this partnership Harvest was able to build using primarily volunteers and to form a long-term ministry partnership with other churches. Our first Sunday in the new building was May 24, 2015. The next year we renovated the meeting space in the office building. With our new space we are able to offer more opportunities for ministry and to make better use of the resources the Lord have given to us. We would love for you to come be a part of our growing family.

Meet our pastors.

Randy Green

Senior Pastor

Randy Green is a native of Florida. He was born in Key West while his father served our country on board a Navy submarine. He was raised in Panama City, Florida where he met his wife, Joyce, in high school. They have been married since 1974 and have two daughters, two great sons-in law, and five grandchildren. Randy is our founding pastor. He has a passion for reaching our world for Christ and then discipling the saved to spiritual maturity. He loves to see the difference that God can make in a person's life. He has a deep love for God's church and works with passion to see it grow and stay healthy. He also loves to hunt and fish and enjoys being on the water in his kayak.

Ronnie Bunch

Associate Pastor of Worship

Ronnie was born in Newport News, Virginia and has been a resident of Isle of Wight County since 1981. He is married to Debbie and they have one daughter. Ronnie has served as Praise and Worship Team Leader since the birth of Harvest Fellowship in May 2001.  After working as a retail pharmacist for 23 years, he accepted the call to full-time ministry and came on staff as Associate Pastor of Worship in March 2005. Ronnie has a "3M" ministry: Music, Missions and Maintenance ... leading worship, researching and organizing mission trip opportunities, and "fixing stuff" around the office. Ronnie loves serving Christ and allowing God to use his passion to make an eternal difference in the lives of others. He also loves music, travel, surfing, sailing, hunting and fishing. Psalm 104:33 "I will sing to the Lord all my life. I will sing to my God for as long as I live."

Art Stafford

Associate Pastor of Students

Art was born in Charlotte, NC, but has lived all over the south, arriving in Smithfield in 2006 when God called him to Harvest Fellowship. He is married to Heather and they have a daughter and a son. Art has been serving in various student ministry positions, both volunteer and full-time staff, since 1989. After graduating from Southwestern Seminary the Lord called him back to school several years later, to Liberty University. His role at Harvest is to help students and their families come to Christ and grow through weekly Bible studies, outreach events and missions opportunities. Along with working with students, he is also responsible for handling benevolence needs and church promotion, both online and on campus. He also loves to help people through counseling opportunities. For fun, he likes just spending time with his family, watching movies, and exercising.
